It’s now 2016 and the predicted El Nino winter is alive and well. The storms just keep coming and with them lots of rain. It’s been quite a journey here in Santa Cruz as well as throughout California as we transition from a 100 year drought into a season of extended rain. For the past few years, many of our regular customers have skipped gutter cleaning and for obvious reasons, no rain. This year NOAA, the “National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration” sounded the alarm mid 2015 with graphic images revealing future weather patterns that would be termed “Goliath El Nino.” Not since 1997-98 had such weather patterns visited our shores and the potential for flooding and other storm related issues was and still is a real concern. The drought had allowed many wild fires to rage throughout the year and big rain meant big landslides. The drought also caused many trees in Santa Cruz and throughout the State to die of thirst, making El Nino storms more than able to bring these trees down. Local news authorities did a great job alerting home owners of the serious need to get their homes prepared for the coming storms. Being a professional Gutter Cleaner for the last 16 years, our phones starting ringing off the hook early in September 2015, and have not stopped. Santa Cruz home owners as well as those living in Boulder Creek, Ben Lomond, Felton, Scotts Valley, Aptos, Watsonville and beyond took serious the need to have their rain gutters cleaned and we have been happy to serve our community in this way.
